Construction and Materials

The mattress itself is a firmer option that is constructed from 3 layers of memory foam with 2 layers of Certipur certified viscoelastic foam and finally a base layer of support foam. The Nectar mattress also has a cooling cover to prevent you from overheating (a common problem with memory foam mattresses).

Nectar is Certipur certified and closely follows guidelines on preventing any hazardous materials from being used within the production of the mattress.

The inside of the mattress is made up of 3 main memory foam layers and foam support base.

The Nectar Mattress has a cover made from breathable polyester and is designed to keep air flowing into the mattress to keep you cool during the night. The Nectar mattress cover is also easily removed and machine washable.

1. Quilted Gel Memory Foam Layer

The first layer of the Nectar mattress is a quilted gel memory foam designed to increase air circulation and breathability, this layer is 2.5cm thick and helps keep you sleeping at a comfortable temperature.

2. Adaptive Memory Foam Layer

The second, a 7.5cm adaptive memory foam layer that supports your body and provides a great level of support. This layer also moulds around your body and as a result, provides a great level of pressure point relief and spine support. Potentially relieving aches and pains. This also ensures that your body weight is evenly distributed throughout the mattress providing you with a great level of comfort.

3. Viscoelastic Support Foam Layer

The Nectar Mattress has a support core of viscoelastic foam to provide support to your body while being slightly firmer than the upper layers. Preventing you from sinking too far into the mattress. The mattress also has a base layer of support foam which features 7 zones of support and minimises movement transfer so you and your partner can sleep comfortably without disturbing each other.

With all of these combined, the mattress is 25cm and the different materials within this can be felt as it provides a great night’s sleep.

Comfort, Support and Sleep Quality

The mattress provides high amounts of support with the firm feel. Nectar sleep has rated this on their website as being a 6.5/10 putting it just above medium-firm. We can only agree with this as it does provide a firmer surface than the average medium-firm mattress. As a result of this rating, the Nectar mattress will be suitable for all types of sleepers. Due to its increased support on the hips and spine support, we believe it is a great choice for all people who mainly sleep on their side or back.

The balance of memory foams result in you feeling comfortable and that the mattress is moulding to your body. The great thing about this mattress though is that you do not feel stuck or like you have sunk in too much like is found with many traditional memory foam mattresses.

This mattress features a zoned support layer which adapts to your body’s needs. This allows you to sleep close to the edges of the bed but still feel supported with minimal compression of the edges. This stops you from feeling like you are going to fall out of bed during the night so it can come in very handy, especially if you share your bed.

Movement transfer across the mattress is minimal, as is to be expected with this combination of foams in the mattress. This is particularly useful if you are easily disturbed during the night and share your bed. The mattress is also designed to keep you cool and despite the mattress moulding around the body quite deeply it still manages to do this. The combination of the cooling cover and breathable memory foam ensure you will not reach an uncomfortable temperature during the night.

If you are a lighter person (under 60kg) then you may find that this mattress is too firm as you do not have enough weight to sink into the mattress and get the most out of it. If you do prefer to sleep on the mattress rather than sink in, it may still suit you. Likewise heavier sleepers who do not like to sink into the mattress may find the Nectar uncomfortable.

If you are a lighter sleeper then we would recommend checking out the Simba Hybrid mattress, our review of this product can be found by clicking here.

Trial and Guarantee

A big plus of the Nectar mattress is that it comes with a 365-day trial. Giving you a whole year to make your mind up. If you decide that it is not the mattress for you then it can be returned for free.

In addition to this Nectar offers a lifetime guarantee with orders of this mattress so if it has any defects you can easily get it replaced.

As with most mattresses that are delivered in a box, setup is very simple. All you have to do is take the mattress to the room of your choice and begin to remove the packaging. The mattress will begin to expand and unroll. When it is placed on your bed it will be ready to use after a few hours of expanding.

Our Verdict

In our opinion, the Nectar mattress provides a great option, especially at its price, for people who are looking for a medium-firm mattress that sleeps cooler than other foam options. It also is great for couples who do not wish to be disturbed by their partner’s movement during the night. The support that the mattress provides (especially to the side or back sleepers) will give a great night’s sleep. Add all of these factors to Nectar sleep providing a 365-day trial to give you plenty of time to get used to the mattress. This alongside lifetime guarantee makes this a great choice for someone who is generally unsure about ordering a mattress online and will provide great value for money in the long run. The Nectar mattress is an attractive buy for lots of people!
