Eve Sleep joined the roll-up mattress market in 2014, 6 years later and they have a wide range of different products available. Throughout this time they have become very well known and have developed a reputation for delivering high quality yet affordable products. The mattresses being delivered rolled up helps cut down on delivery cost. It also makes it easier to be moved up staircases when moving into the room of your choice. With free delivery, 100-night trial and 10-year warranty it is easy to see why these mattresses appeal to a wide range of people.

The Eve Light mattress is a much more simple design than what is typically released by them. A more budget-friendly option which still contains high-quality materials but is different in its construction. Designed and manufactured in the UK by top industry professionals, all Eve mattresses are designed with comfort and quality in mind.

The Eve Light mattress is an all-foam mattress designed to offer a medium-firm sleeping surface which offers a balance between comfort, breathability and pressure relief. This mattress is slightly thinner than their other mattresses and while changes have to be made to reduce the price. Eve sleep attempts to keep to the same standards of quality as their other mattresses. This can be seen with them using the same foam as in the Eve sleep Original mattress.

Construction and Materials

The Eve Light mattress is made from two layers with it being encased in its cover. While very simple in design this can often be very effective.

This cover is made from a mix of 98% polyester and 2% elastane. An added benefit of this combination is that it can be easily unzipped and machine washed at 40 degrees celsius. The elastane allows it to easily be put back and retain its shape. Eve sleep still uses its high-quality materials within this mattress with all foam used being Certipur® certified, this means no harmful chemicals are used in the foam.

1. Eve Comfort Foam Layer

The first layer of this mattress is a foam Evecomfort layer. This is a foam specially made by Eve sleep and is designed to be extremely breathable, this aims to prevent the overheating problem found in traditional memory foam mattresses. This layer provides your body with a great amount of pressure relief.

2. Supportive Foam Base Layer

The bottom layer of this mattress is the thickest at 13cm. It is the third foam layer within this mattress but this one is firmer, made from high-density foam. This thick layer provides support and balances the softer layers above. It is also zoned, minimising motion transfer across the mattress and providing support to key joints.

It has contouring layers providing the support you need to specific areas of the body, easing pressure where you need it most. It also works with the top layer making this mattress very comfortable to lay on.

Comfort, Support and Sleep Quality

This mattress rates as a medium-firm, it is slightly softer than the average foam mattress though and it is rated at a 6.5/10. As with most Eve sleep mattresses it is designed to suit the majority of people, this means that if you are especially large or small then you may not get the maximum benefits that this mattress offers.

This mattress shines with its comfort levels. Allowing you to settle nicely into the mattress and get a relaxing night’s sleep. There is enough contouring on the body to feel comfortable while not feeling stuck and still able to change positions easily. The bottom layer of foam is great at providing support to the keys joints and not leaving you waking up with aches and pains caused by the mattress.

In terms of sleeping positions Eve sleep claims that this mattress is designed to suit all types of sleepers. The contour zones within the foam respond to the amount of pressure you put into the mattress and provide the support where you need it the most.

When sleeping on your back this works very well and the shoulders and hips feel well supported and you can keep good spinal alignment. Allowing for a comfortable sleeping experience.

A similar experience is had when sleeping on the side. If you sleep in mainly these two positions then you should have a very good experience with this mattress.

Front sleeping is where some issues are had. As is very common with thinner mattresses the support is lacking. It can be difficult to maintain good alignment of the spine if you are sleeping like this due to different levels of support across the mattress.

The Eve Light is probably best suited to combination sleepers who frequently change sleeping position. This is because each area of the mattress responds differently based on the pressure you put it under and so will quickly adapt to your sleeping needs.

This mattress may be suitable if you suffer from back pain but we would always advise you to consult your GP first. The 100-night trial comes in great here as you can easily send it back if it does not help you.

While Eve sleeps specially designed foam is cooler than traditional memory foam it still does have problems with overheating. There aren’t any moisture-wicking properties within the mattress and so it can result in the sleeper becoming clammy and sticky if they overheat while sleeping.

As is expected on foam mattresses there is minimal motion and noise transfer across this mattress. Making it an excellent choice if you are a light sleeper or frequently disturbed by your partner.

Delivery

Once ordered the Eve Light mattress will be delivered, for free, within 3 working days. If you require your old mattress to be taken away then this can be organised with Eve Sleep for an additional fee of £35. You are also able to select a delivery slot for an additional fee. Upon delivery, the mattress will be in a box. This makes it much easier to be able to move around and onto your base. After you take it out of the vacuum packaging then it is best to let the mattress air for as long as possible, at least a few hours. This allows the mattress to fully regain its shape.

After you receive your mattress and have it set up it is recommended to rotate your mattress every month to get the most out of it, allowing it to wear evenly. It is not required to flip this mattress.

Our Verdict

This mattress is a great choice for a wide range of people, some of these groups include if you are looking for a firm mattress that may help ease back pain, sleep as a couple and are disturbed by their movement as they sleep. This mattress is also a great choice if you are looking for a comfortable mattress without breaking the bank. This mattress is also designed and produced inside the UK by a well-respected company that has produced lots of successful mattresses before this one.

One of the best parts is that you have a 100-night trial. This should be used if you are looking for a mattress that will help reduce your aches and pains or relieve back pain. This is because often you will not know if the mattress is right for you until you can sleep on it. While not an orthopaedic mattress often a firm mattress will help you by providing large amounts of support and pressure relief. The Eve sleep customer support team also gives them extra points, they are easily contactable and will help resolve any issues you have as fast as possible. The key difference between the more expensive versions of the Eve mattresses is the inclusion of memory foam which adds to the comfort and contouring of the mattress.

If you are looking for a high-quality memory foam mattress that is a few hundred pounds cheaper than its closest rivals then the Eve Light mattress is a great choice.
