This mattress is a foam and pocket spring hybrid, aiming to benefit from the positives from both of these materials. Construction and Materials

All materials that are used by Eve sleep in the manufacturing of their mattresses are supplied by National Bedding Federation Members. This is to make sure they are all of the highest quality. Also, the foam used during the construction of the mattress is CertiPUR certified. This is an independent board which checks the materials are safe to use and will not be a risk to sleep on. On to the mattress layers:

The cover of the Eve Premium Hybrid mattress is constructed from a combination of 97% polyester, 2% elastane and 1% silver. Yes, silver! Small strands of silver are woven into the cover as it is naturally antibacterial and antimicrobial, making the cover the same. The cover is easily zipped off and is machine washable. It is easy to stretch back over the mattress due to the elastane-polyester mix. Finally, it is Oekotex certified which is an independently tested certification to test for material safety.

1. Floatfoam® Layer

The first layer of the mattress is a foam layer that is designed to provide a soft layer which will conform to your body and provide pressure relief. It is also designed with active cooling to help prevent you from overheating while you sleep.

2. Memory Foam Layer

The second layer of the mattress is a memory foam layer. This is slightly firmer than the first layer and adapts to your body at a slower rate than the first layer. This helps relieve pressure points within the body while remaining comfortable. Interestingly these top two layers are infused with graphite. This is to help remove heat when you become too warm.

3. Transitional Support Foam Layer

Next up we have a thicker support layer of foam. This is a firm surface which provides support to the above layers and helps maintain spinal alignment as you sleep, avoiding aches and pains from sleeping with a lack of support.

4. Foam Casing Layer

The springs within this mattress are encased in a large foam layer. A neat feature of this is that it extends the sleeping surface of the mattress right to the edge of the mattress. This allows you to avoid feeling as though you are going to fall out of the bed if you get too close to the edge.

5. Pocket Spring Layer

The pocket spring layer within this mattress features 1500 full-size pocket springs. This is around the amount you would expect from a traditional pocket-spring mattress which is very impressive. This provides a great amount of support and a bounce which makes moving around the mattress easy and not leave you feeling stuck and too sunken in. A bonus of the springs is that it makes the mattress much more breathable, keeping you cooler during the night.

6. Second Foam Casing Layer

Below the pocket spring layer is another foam casing layer. This acts as a foundation layer for the mattress and provides a solid base for the other layers to sit upon. It also prevents the springs from being damaged by having direct contact with the base.

The bottom of this mattress also has a non-slip material on it, keeping your mattress in place and preventing any possible damage to your base or mattress as a result of it moving out of place. The maximum recommended weight for the bed is 18 stone (114kg) per person. Any more than this and it may wear quickly or the materials within the mattress may be damaged.

Comfort, Support and Sleep Quality

We have found that the Eve Premium Hybrid is slightly firmer than other mattresses available at Eve sleep. We feel it is rated at 7/10 so it is still medium-firm but closer to firm. The different layers within the Eve Premium Hybrid provide a great balance of pressure-relieving support and comfort. The memory foam provides slow, soft contouring of the body but you do not sink too far due to the firm foam support layer and the pocket-springs below. With 1500 pocket-springs there is a lot of support helping you keep your spine aligned whatever the sleeping position. Sleeping position is very important when choosing a mattress so we have broken down each sleeping position and what it is like to sleep on the Eve Premium Hybrid in these positions. We believe that the mattress is a great choice for all types of sleeper.

Side sleeper: Sleeping on your side requires enough support on your hips and shoulders, equally, to be able to maintain good spinal alignment. The pocket springs in this mattress are zoned to give extra support to the areas that need it. The balance between comfort and support will also leave you feeling comfortable while you sleep on your side.

Back sleeper: Spinal alignment is also important when sleeping on your back. A lack of support in the hips or shoulders will leave you waking up with aches and eventually pain. Due to the pocket-spring layer providing zoned support and the firm surface you will have plenty of support. The heavier you are then further you will sink into this mattress and so the trial can be useful to test if it suits you.

Front sleeper: The firmer support of this mattress will stop you sinking too far into the mattress. Sleeping on your front on this mattress is a good option because the high levels of support and firmness will alleviate your pressure points and keep the spine aligned while you sleep.

Combination sleeper: If you are a combination sleeper and frequently move positions as you sleep then the extra firmness of this mattress will suit you well. It prevents you from sinking into the mattress too much allowing you to change positions easily.

Due to the firm nature of the mattress if you do not weigh much then you may sit on top of the mattress, not making the most of the layers within the mattress. If you fit into this category then a slightly softer mattress such as the Eve Premium may suit you well.

A great positive about adding a layer of pocket-springs is the massive increase in mattress breathability. With the addition of graphite in the top couple of layers and cooling foam used within the construction on the mattress. We believe the Eve Premium Hybrid does a fantastic job and creating a comfortable sleeping temperature and you should not struggle with overheating as you sleep.

One of the benefits of memory foam mattresses that are retained in this mattress is minimal motion transfer. This allows you to sleep comfortably without being disturbed by your partner on the mattress. This comes in extra handy if your partner moves around a lot during the night or you are a light sleeper.

Trial and Guarantee

As is expected with a mattress-in-a-box the Eve Premium Hybrid comes with a 200-night trial. You can return it at any time during this trial for a full refund. If you decide to send it back then all you have to do is contact Eve sleep’s customer support team who will help you organise a collection date that suits you from the room that you have placed the mattress in. Our experience with this is that they are quick to answer and sort out any issues that you may have.

The Eve Premium Hybrid also comes with a 10-year warranty, this covers any manufacturing issues that the mattress may have such as sagging or stitching failure, giving you long term peace of mind. It would be recommended to use a mattress protector however as stains or spoilage may void the warranty.

Delivery is also a relatively simple process with a range of delivery slots so you can choose one that suits you. Standard delivery is free and is sent relatively quickly with most customers receiving their orders within 3 working days after payment.

Once delivered the mattress is in an easy to move the box with the vacuum-packed mattress inside. This makes moving the mattress much easier. Once in the place of your choice, the mattress is easily unwrapped and will rapidly expand. The mattress will be ready to use within a few hours.

Our Verdict

The Eve Premium Hybrid is another top-quality offering from Eve Sleep. The combination of foam and pocket springs provide all the support needed to sleep in any position. This is especially useful if you are a combination of sleeper. The Eve Premium Hybrid is slightly on the firmer side compared to the other Eve sleep offerings and lacks some of the bounce you would expect from a traditional pocket spring mattress but we did not find this to be an issue with the cushioned support it provides stops you from feeling stuck or sinking too far into the mattress, which can sometimes be uncomfortable.

If you are wanting a medium-firm mattress which is very comfortable and is made from the latest and top quality materials then the Eve Hybrid Premium is potentially the one for you. With its generous trial period, you will have more than enough time to choose whether this mattress suits you. You can also have peace of mind knowing that the mattress has a 10-year warranty and you are buying from a well-known company which is well regarded within the industry and customers alike.
